Residents at Ashley House have been busy baking in preparation for Easter, creating their own delicious chocolate Easter nests to enjoy together.
Using pastry, chocolate spread and mini Easter eggs, residents took part in each stage of the baking activity, helping to prepare and decorate the sweet treats. The photos show Wendy carefully spreading chocolate and later cutting chocolate-filled pastry into strips, while Barb added the finishing touches with chocolate spread and mini eggs and also rolled the pastry strips into spiral nests. Jean and Herta also joined in with spreading the chocolate, and one lovely image captures the ladies working together in a cheerful line.
The finished nests looked very tempting, with golden pastry topped with chocolate and colourful mini eggs. As well as being a tasty seasonal activity, baking offers residents the chance to take part in a hands-on, meaningful task that encourages concentration, coordination and teamwork. It also brings plenty of enjoyment, especially when there is something sweet to admire at the end.
Activities like this are a lovely way to mark the season, combining creativity, conversation and a shared sense of achievement. The Easter nests looked wonderful, and by all accounts they were very much enjoyed too.
