Residents at Ashley House enjoyed a lively games morning, with ball games that brought plenty of laughter, energy and a little friendly competition too.
Throughout the session, residents took part in a range of simple but engaging activities using a large blow-up dice and a 3×3 hole target mat. The games encouraged everyone to join in at their own pace, with lots of smiles as residents threw, rolled and aimed with growing confidence. As the morning went on, a few competitive streaks began to appear, adding to the fun as residents cheered one another on.
The photographs capture the enjoyment of the session perfectly. Wendy, Jean, Violet, Maggie and Bill were all pictured taking part with the oversized dice, while Barb, Eileen, Violet and Bill were shown aiming balls at the target mat. One image of Jean smiling while holding the dice reflects the light-hearted atmosphere of the morning, and the video shows residents laughing and cheering as the games continued.
Activities like these can have real benefits for wellbeing, supporting cognitive skills, motor skills and social interaction in a relaxed and enjoyable way. They also offer residents the chance to stay active, focus on a task and share a positive experience with others.
At Ashley House, this games morning was a lovely example of how simple activities can bring people together and brighten the day.
